Overview

The Level 3 Administration of Medication course will provide the knowledge and understanding required to complete this unit with the opportunity to answer questions. Completion of knowledge questions and a workplace competency assessment, which can be given to employers for them to assess the practical competency within the workplace.

Practical Competency can be delivered at a later date either at the training centre or within the workplace following Government advice on Social Distancing.

Course Contents

  • Administer and monitor medication to individuals as per instructions from their employers and in accordance with their policy, their roles and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of the legal framework, the legal implications and the need for the correct training
  • Administer safely and accurately according to policy and procedures
  • Ensure good knowledge on routes, different medications, and an awareness and ability to recognise adverse reactions to medication
  • Ensure that learners are able to make accurate records and the importance of this
  • Ensure that learners are aware of the need to report drug errors
  • Ensure that the learners have a current CPR Certificate
  • Competency based assessment
